Expect the Incredible, Part I - Worry Less

In Thomas Jefferson's famous Ten Rules, he says, "How much pain the evils have cost us that have never happened." In other words, we often spend so much time, energy and life worrying about things that will never happen. Sometimes we live a future event over and over in our heads until we begin to live our lives as though it already happened. I cannot overemphasize how dangerous that can be.

Thankfully, we don't have to live in a place of dangerous thinking. In fact, aren't there so many great things to think about instead!? Read your Bible. You can find more than enough things to think about in a life time. Remember what we learn about in Philippians 4:8, "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

The God of peace will be with you... I love it! Once we start to think on good things, peace and joy will follow. I have a challenge for you this new year: Start to worry less. It'll do you good. Whenever you start to worry, remember that it's something that can keep you from focusing on the more important, exciting things. You can't be fully committed to expecting something incredible to happen when you're worrying!
