Speak Because You Believe

"But we continue to preach because we have the same kind of faith the psalmist had when he said, “I believed in God, so I spoke.” - 2 Corinthians 4:13 Have you ever met an avid sports enthusiast? I think we probably all know at least one person who is able to tell you all the stats for any player and team on command. Well, I would say that almost all of those people who have poured over sports stats and watch TV are pretty vocal about their knowledge. I have been on the sidelines for many spirited debates on which team will make it to the Superbowl or World Series. I actually find myself getting enraptured a bit when they start talking passionately about different teams and drafts. Personally, I find nothing at all wrong with people enjoying a sport thoroughly by putting their mind to it and fully understanding everything that's going on. My brother is one of those semi-fanatics and like that about him. Most of the time.

My question for you is this: When was the last time you could say, "I believe in God, so I spoke"? When was the last time that you had a joyful, intense, fun, or serious conversation with someone about Jesus? Have you shared the knowledge you've been gaining over the days, months or years you've been learning about Christ? If people can passionately speak of their favorite player as if they were best friends, why is it so hard for many Christians to talk about the most important aspect of their lives? Speaking specifically to all of my wonderful Christian brothers and sisters, I want you to know I say this to encourage and not condemn. I even say this for my own sake as I don't speak out God's message often enough.

Right now, I'd like to ask all of you to pray for you, me and all Christians that we would boldly speak. Let us always be able to say, "I believed in God, so I spoke."
