The Gravity of Words, Part III - Supernatural Impacts
Once we've really opened our minds up to the fact that our words have long lasting affects on people and natural events even when we don't realize it, we can start to look at the affects our words have beyond our own natural world. In the immortal words of Maximus from Gladiator, "What we do in life echoes in eternity!"
Have you ever blown bubbles in the summer time or breathed on a window and seen it fog up? If so, you know that some forces cannot be seen but their affects can be. Well, there are many supernatural events that reverberate in our natural world. It's vital that we take command over the supernatural world. One way that we can change the supernatural world is through our words. There is power in our words that reaches out beyond our world. As in Proverbs 10:11, "The words of the godly are a life-giving fountain..."
Now the distinction between natural and supernatural affects is not so cut and dry as I've made it out to be. One of the best ways to describe this is that the supernatural world is really overlaid on this world. You could also say that they are interwoven. The most important thing to keep in mind is that the supernatural world is much more powerful and has a lot more to do with the world we live in than we usually think. This power is evidenced in what Jesus told us, "But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!"
Romans 10:9 really brings into focus the gravity of our words: "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Now, our words are not the only things that our salvation hinges on, but they are certainly important pieces of the puzzle.
We are also told that our words have the same supernatural authority that Jesus has because he lives in us. "I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms. Now he is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else—not only in this world but also in the world to come." - Ephesians 1:19-21.
Let's pray today that we will have the strength to constantly speak supernatural life over ourselves and others! The influence you can have as a supernaturally minded person is incredible!
