The Gravity of Words, Part I - Intro

Proverbs 10:11, "The words of the godly are a life-giving fountain; the words of the wicked conceal violent intentions."

I love words. Being able to communicate what's in your head in an efficient or beautiful way can be one of the most satisfying things to many of us. This is said pretty well in Proverbs 18:20, "Wise words satisfy like a good meal; the right words bring satisfaction."

However, the words you speak aren't just for communication; the words you speak create centers of gravity that either pull you and others towards health and life or sickness and death. Now this may seem a bit extreme at first glance. How can stuff that I say impact anything that intensely? Aren't my words just words?

I believe (and have many scriptures to back me up on this) that our words are anything but just words. They carry a power and gravity that is often beyond our understanding. This is the first in a series of posts that I'm writing on this topic because it believe that it is vital to our survival and growth as sons and daughters of God. Pray with me today that God will show us how impactive our words can be.
